We made it back safe and sound!
The weather was perfect at 80 degrees and greatly missed when we arrived back
in PA with 36 degree temperatures and snow!
We didn't get everything done that could've been but made a huge dent in all that did need done. Everyone worked so hard pouring ourselves into everything that we did from Drywall, putting down hardwood floors, doing electrical, painting and even to the preparing of the food. There was lots of laughs and great memories made during that week.
How this all got started was Eric got a residency in Macon, GA (he is a brain
surgeon) and they were driving around looking at homes in the town. His wife
Desi said it would be great to find a church to buy. Sure enough they drove
past a church that was for-sale and after much prayer and talking realized that
is where they were to be. Desi's parents, Fred and Gayle Billie, ended up feeling
called to move up from their home in Florida as well. They loved where they
were living; they had a church, friends and the beach! It was a hard decision
but they felt called so they made the trip up to Macon and now reside in an
apartment that was fix up for them in one of the rooms of the church.
Fred is now the pastor of “The Elias Community Church” working hard
at fixing up the building as well as going out in the community sharing the
word of God to whom ever he can. They want to eventually have activities for
the kids after school and have this be a place that others can come and be ministered
to.
