Solid Rock Baptist Church

In the spring of 1999, Cameron Baptist Church of Cameron, WV sponsored a church mission in Hundred, WV.
With the support of the Upper Ohio Valley Southern Baptist Association, they called Brian Burgess as the first pastor.
The church services were held in a store front on Pennsylvania Avenue in downtown Hundred.
The WV Southern Baptists were in partnership with South Carolina Southern Baptists during the initial start up of the church mission.
A group of youth and adults from SC came to Hundred, WV and performed a door to door needs assessment
and invited community members to visit the new church. The store front was remodeled with donations from the
WV and SC Southern Baptist Associations both in labor and finances. The new mission church was formed and Sunday
and Wednesday services were held weekly. The newly formed mission church was named
Century Baptist Church and approximately 20 members were baptized or transferred membership to the new church.

In the winter of 2000, Century Baptist Church called a new pastor, Larry Holtz, to lead the congregation.
The church continued to meet in the store front until the summer of 2002. A new building was secured on Rock Camp Road
about 2 miles north of Hundred. This church was formerly the First Baptist Church and it was closing its doors due to low attendance.
The members of Century Baptist Church purchased the building for $5000 along with a
fellowship hall and outhouses for an additional $5000. Our church continued to have support
from the mission groups from South Carolina and Florida. We held revival meetings in both the spring and fall of each year.
These brought visiting pastors from different locations around WV, SC, Georgia, and Florida to speak.

Pastor Larry Holtz and members of Century Baptist Church began to have a vision of a
larger church sanctuary and fellowship hall with a baptistery, kitchen and indoor bathrooms.
We prayed about our vision and with God’s approval, we began a building fund. The building fund grew.
The members of Century Baptist Church decided to rename the mission church, Solid Rock Baptist Church.
God decided to make our vision a reality when he sent, Pastor Terry McDaniels , from a Georgia congregation to conduct revival services.
When he returned to Georgia, his congregation opened their hearts to God’s call and contacted
Pastor Holtz about building the new sanctuary.
After that, the mission groups from many congregations in Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and West Virginia made the vision a reality.
In the early spring of 2005, our ground breaking ceremony was held.
Our congregation was able to build bathrooms and put in a sewage system with their building fund.
God’s plan continued for our church with many mission groups donating and completing their work for the Lord.
When it was all completed, our small congregation did not owe anything but gratitude to the Lord.

In the fall of 2008, our new building was dedicated to our Lord and Savior with a beautiful service
and tribute to God for his faithful servants who contributed to its creation.
The new building has a 100 capacity sanctuary, 50 capacity fellowship, with a fully equipped kitchen, a nursery and two bathrooms.

At present time, Gary Grant is our pastor. He shares his life with his wife, Lorene,
and they reside in Hundred, WV.
Solid Rock Baptist Church conducts worship service on Sunday at 11:00 AM and Wednesday Bible Study at 6:00 PM.
The bible verse that tells the story best is: “With God All Things Are Possible”.
With God’s continued blessing, we try to stand on solid ground at Solid Rock Baptist Church.
